Net International Reserves – March 2022

BOJ has reported that Jamaica’s Net International Reserves as at March 31, 2022 amounted to US$3,675.85 million, reflecting an increase of US$86.53 million relative to the US$3,589.32 million reported at the end of February 2022.

Foreign Assets totalled US$4,323.66 million, US$64.03 million more than the US$4,259.63 million reported in February 2022. ‘Currency & Deposits’ held by the BOJ as at March 31, 2022 totalled US$3,781.08 million, reflecting an increase of US$52.47 million compared to the US$3,728.61 million reported in February 2022.

‘Securities’ were now valued at US$341.55 million; US$11.35 million more than the US$330.20 million reported in February 2022. The country’s ‘Special Drawing Rights & IMF Reserve Position’ grew marginally to US$201.02 million relative to the US$200.81 million reported as at February 28, 2022. Liabilities to the IMF were reduced by US$22.50 million to US$647.81 million when compared to the US$670.31 million reported at the end of February 2022.

At its current value, the nation’s NIR is US$356.52 million more than the US$3,319.33 million reported at the end of March 2021. The current reserve can support approximately 47 weeks of goods imports and 30 weeks of goods and services imports.
