SML reports 52% increase in three months net profit

Unaudited financials for the first quarter ended March 31, 2025:

Stanley Motta Limited (SML) for the first quarter ended March 31, 2025, reported a 24% increase in revenue totaling $163.40 million compared to $131.85 million in the corresponding three months last year.

Year to date, Other operating income decreased by 37% to $328,000 compared to $518,000 for the first quarter ended March 31, 2024, while administrative expenses increased by 13% to close at $56.37 million (2024: $49.98 million).

Consequently, Operating Profit increased by 30% from $82.39 million in 2024 to $107.35 million for the three months. Finance Costs for the first quarter amounted to $13.19 million, a 32% decrease relative to $19.29 million reported in 2024.

Profit before taxation for the three months amounted to $94.16 million, a 49% increase relative to $63.10 million reported in 2024. The tax charge incurred totaled $3.50 million, a 6% increase from the corresponding period last year. (2024: $3.30 million).

As a result, Net profit for the first quarter ended March 31, 2025, amounting to $90.66 million, a 52% increase relative to $59.80 million reported in 2024.

Currency translation difference on net assets of foreign subsidiary for the three months remained $28,000 similar to the previous year . Total Comprehensive Income for the three months amounted to $90.69 million, a 52% increase from the $59.83 million reported in 2024.

 

Consequently, Earnings Per Share for the three months amounted to $0.12 (2024: EPS: $0.08). The twelve-month trailing EPS was $1.51, and the number of shares used in these calculations was 757,828,490. Notably, SML’s stock price closed the trading period on May 15, 2025, at a price of $6.78 with a corresponding P/E ratio of 4.48x.

Balance Sheet Highlights

The company’s assets totaled $11.54 billion (2024: $10.00 billion). The movement in total assets was primarily due to a 38% increase in ‘Investment Properties’ amounting to $11.28 billion (2023: $9.76 billion).

Shareholder’s equity was $8.71 billion (2024: $7.72 billion), representing a book value per share of $11.49 (2024: $10.19).
