US, Japan to Consider Projects That May Tap $550 Billion Fund

The US and Japan are set to review energy projects as the potential debut investments in a landmark $550 billion joint fund that was a centerpiece of their trade deal, according to people familiar with the matter.

The first session of one panel that weighs potential investments is scheduled for Wednesday in Washington, Thursday morning Japan time, the people said.

UK Inflation Drops More Than Expected Ahead of BOE Decision

UK inflation slipped to its lowest level in eight months, a bigger-than-expected drop that traders saw as all but sealing an interest-rate cut at the Bank of England on Thursday.

Consumer prices rose just 3.2% in November after a 3.6% increase the previous month, the Office for National Statistics said on Wednesday, dragged lower by the falling price of some foods such as cakes, biscuits, and breakfast cereals.

Japan’s Exports to US Rise for First Time Since Trump’s Tariffs

Japan’s exports to the US rose for the first time since Donald Trump announced baseline tariffs in early April, the latest indication that economies are faring better than expected in a more protectionist global trade environment.

The turnaround in shipments to the US helped power the biggest gain in overall exports since February.
