SML reports 27% increase in six months net profit

Unaudited financials for the six months ended June 30, 2026:

Stanley Motta Limited (SML), for the six months ended June 30, 2026, reported a 41% increase in revenue, totaling $471.08 million, compared to $334.14 million in the corresponding period last year, driven by higher occupancy following the completion of a 10-storey commercial building that added approximately 100,000 square feet of rentable space. Revenue for the second quarter grew by 37%, closing at $234.09 million versus $170.74 million for the comparable quarter of 2025.

Other Operating Income declined by 8% to $1.18 million, compared to $1.28 million for the six months ended June 30, 2025. For the second quarter, the company recorded $242,000 in other operating income versus $953,000 reported for the similar quarter of 2025.

Year to date, Administrative Expenses rose by 16%, closing at $152.25 million (2025: $130.85 million). No fair value gains on investment properties were recognised in the interim period (2025: nil), as these are booked at year end. Consequently, Operating Profit increased by 56%, moving from $204.57 million in 2025 to $320.01 million in the period under review. Finance Costs for the six months ended June 30, 2026, amounted to $108.47 million, a 178% increase relative to $38.99 million reported in 2025, reflecting interest on borrowings used to construct the new building.

Profit Before Taxation for the six months ended June 30, 2026, totaled $211.54 million, a 28% increase compared to $165.58 million reported in 2025. For the second quarter, profit before taxation was $64.98 million (2025: $71.42 million). Taxation amounted to $5.85 million, a 67% increase from $3.50 million in the corresponding period last year.

Net Profit for the six months ended June 30, 2026, stood at $205.69 million, up 27% from $162.08 million reported in 2025. For the second quarter, net profit was $60.26 million (2025: $71.42 million).

Currency Translation Difference on the net assets of the foreign subsidiary amounted to $1.00 million (2025: $28,000). Total Comprehensive Income for the six months amounted to $206.70 million, a 28% increase from $162.11 million reported in 2025. For the second quarter, total comprehensive income was $75.14 million (2025: $71.42 million).

Consequently, Earnings Per Share for the six months amounted to $0.27 (2025: EPS: $0.21), while Earnings Per Share for the quarter totaled $0.08 (2025: EPS: $0.09). The twelve-month trailing EPS was $2.74 and the number of shares used in these calculations was 757,828,490.

Notably, SML’s stock price closed the trading period on August 13, 2026 at a price of $7.45 with a corresponding P/E ratio of 2.72x.

Balance Sheet Highlights
The company’s assets totaled $14.15 billion (2025: $11.90 billion). The movement in total assets was primarily due to an 18% increase in ‘Investment Properties’ amounting to $13.57 billion (2025: $11.47 billion).

Shareholder’s equity was $10.80 billion (2025: $8.78 billion), representing a book value per share of $14.25 (2025: $11.59).
