Unaudited financials for the six months ended June 30, 2026:
Berger Paints Jamaica Limited (BRG) for the six months ended June 30, 2026, reported an 11% increase in Revenue from contracts with customers totalling $1.71 billion compared to $1.55 billion for the corresponding period of 2025. Revenue for the second quarter increased 6% to close at $821.35 million relative to $775.99 million for the comparable quarter of 2025, which management attributed to stronger sales momentum, improved market execution and continued focus on customer service, supply reliability and channel support.
Raw materials and consumables used amounted to $938.82 million (2025: $649.01 million), an increase of 45% year over year, while the net change in inventories of finished goods and work in progress contributed a positive $145.22 million relative to a negative $82.63 million in 2025. For the quarter, raw materials and consumables used declined 32% to $264.38 million (2025: $387.31 million), while the movement in inventories of finished goods and work in progress was negative $106.45 million (2025: positive $37.25 million).
Manufacturing expenses rose 24% to $32.24 million (2025: $26.03 million), while Depreciation was relatively flat at $51.33 million (2025: $50.83 million). Employee benefits expense declined 2% to $351.51 million (2025: $358.19 million), and for the quarter fell 13% to $166.97 million (2025: $192.23 million).
Other operating expenses increased 19% to $459.08 million (2025: $387.38 million), reflecting continued investment in brand activity, customer-facing initiatives and operational capability. For the quarter, Other operating expenses rose 8% to $233.01 million (2025: $215.23 million).
Other income advanced 91% to $31.44 million (2025: $16.45 million), while other income for the quarter declined 34% to $7.67 million (2025: $11.69 million).
Consequently, profit before Taxation for the six months ended June 30, 2026, amounted to $55.30 million, a 632% increase relative to $7.55 million reported in 2025. For the second quarter, Profit before Taxation was $17.59 million relative to a loss before taxation of $9.39 million for the comparable quarter of 2025.
Taxation for the six months amounted to $16.04 million, a 490% increase relative to $2.72 million reported in 2025, while a tax charge of $8.87 million was recorded for the quarter (2025: tax credit of $3.30 million). As such, Net Profit for the six months ended June 30, 2026, rose 712% to reach $39.27 million (2025: $4.83 million). For the second quarter, Net Profit amounted to $8.72 million relative to a Net Loss of $6.09 million booked for the similar quarter of 2025.
Consequently, Earnings Per Share for the six months amounted to $0.18 (2025: EPS: $0.02), while Earnings Per Share for the quarter totalled $0.04 (2025: LPS: $0.03). The twelve-month trailing EPS was $0.20, and the number of shares used in these calculations was 214,322,393.
Notably, BRG’s stock price closed the trading period on August 17, 2026, at a price of $5.70 with a corresponding P/E ratio of 27.91x.
Balance Sheet Highlights
The Company’s assets totalled $2.67 billion (2025: $2.79 billion), a 5% reduction of $125.74 million. Notably, Trade and other receivables led the growth in total assets with an increase of $83.70 million or 12% to close at $753.78 million, while Inventories advanced $19.54 million or 2% to $1.13 billion and Due from fellow subsidiaries rose 39% to $9.67 million. These increases were outweighed by a $126.09 million or 57% decline in Cash and bank balances to $94.43 million, a $47.45 million or 12% reduction in Property, plant and equipment to $364.52 million, a $23.33 million or 30% decline in Right-of-use assets to $53.60 million, a $22.00 million reduction in Post employment benefit assets to $208.00 million, and a $9.82 million decline in Income tax recoverable to $39.65 million.
Total Liabilities amounted to $1.56 billion (2025: $1.62 billion), down 4%. Due to immediate parent company declined 33% to $121.13 million (2025: $180.43 million) and Trade and other payables fell 14% to $302.73 million (2025: $351.92 million), while Due to fellow subsidiaries was broadly flat at $859.33 million (2025: $863.53 million). Post employment benefit obligations rose 54% to $198.00 million (2025: $128.80 million).
Shareholder’s equity was $1.11 billion (2025: $1.17 billion), a decline of 5%, representing a book value per share of $5.17 (2025: $5.47).
