Unaudited financials for the first quarter ended August 01, 2026:
Jamaica Broilers Group Limited (JBG) for the first quarter ended August 01, 2026, reported a 5% increase in revenue totalling $19.30 billion compared to $18.31 billion in the corresponding three months last year.
Cost of Sales amounted to $14.53 billion (2025: $12.40 billion), this represents an increase of 17% year over year. Consequently, gross profit decreased by 19% to $4.77 billion compared to $5.91 billion for the first quarter ended August 01, 2025.
Other income decreased by 76% to close at $121.26 million (2025: $495.45 million), while Distribution Costs decreased by 17% from $1.11 billion in 2025 to $914.12 million for the three months. Also, Administration and other expenses for the first quarter amounted to $2.14 billion, a 9% increase relative to $1.97 billion reported in 2025.
Consequently, Operating Profit for the three months amounted to $1.84 billion, a 45% decrease relative to $3.33 billion reported in 2025.
Finance Costs totalled $854.81 million a 2% increase from the corresponding period last year. (2025: $836.61 million).
Profit before taxation for the first quarter ended August 01, 2026, amounted to $1.05 billion, a 59% decrease relative to $2.54 billion reported in 2025.
Taxation charge for the three months had a 114% increase to reach $233.45 million (2025: $109.06 million). As such, Net Profit from continuing operations for the three months amounted to $813.38 million, a 66% decrease from the $2.43 billion reported in 2025.
No Profit/Loss from discontinued operations were reported in 2026, (2025: Loss of $832.46 million).
Consequently, Net Profit for the three months amounted to $813.38 million, a 49% decrease from the $1.60 billion reported in 2025.
Management noted, “JBG’s first-quarter performance was supported by a 5% increase in revenue, driven by continued strong demand for chicken products and fertile eggs across its key markets, while both the Jamaica and U.S. operating segments remained profitable. However, earnings were adversely impacted by a 17% increase in cost of sales, significantly higher depreciation charges arising from the revaluation of land and buildings, reduced other income due to the absence of prior-year disposal gains, and lower margins in the U.S. segment following the loss of volumes from the divested U.S. poultry business.”
Earnings Per Share for the three months amounted to $0.68 (2025: EPS: $1.33). The twelve-month trailing LPS was $6.32, and the number of shares used in these calculations was 1,199,276,400.
Notably, JBG’s stock price closed the trading period on September 28, 2026, at a price of $14.40.
Balance Sheet Highlights
The company’s assets totalled $92.16 billion (2025: $56.91 billion). The growth in total assets was primarily driven by a $38.69 billion or 180% in ‘PPE’ to close the period at $60.20 billion (2025: $21.51 billion).
Shareholder’s equity was $23.60 billion (2025: deficit of $8.57 billion), representing a book value per share of $19.68 (2025: deficit of $7.14).
