Net International Reserves – October 2024
BOJ has reported that Jamaica’s Net International Reserves as at October 31, 2024 stood at US$5,595.55 million, reflecting an increase of US$395.02 million when compared to the US$5,200.53 million reported at the end of September 2024.
Foreign Assets totalled US$5,663.50 million, US$393.76 million more than the US$5,269.74 million reported in September 2024.
‘Currency & Deposits’ held by the BOJ as at October 31, 2024 totalled US$3,660.67 million, reflecting an increase of US$78.06 million compared to the US$3,582.62 million reported in September 2024.
‘Securities’ were valued at US$1,946.67 million; US$316.74 million more than the US$1,629.92 million reported at the end of September 2024. The country’s Special Drawing Rights decreased to US$19.74 million relative to the US$20.11 million recorded a month prior.
‘IMF Reserve Position’ decreased to US$36.42 million from the US$37.10 million reported last month. Liabilities to the IMF decreased by US$1.26 million to US$67.95 million against the US$69.21 million reported at the end of September 2024.
Presently, the country’s foreign exchange reserves are US$981.28 million, or 21% more than the US$4,614.27 million held by the BOJ at the end of October 2023. The current NIR supports approximately 41.40 weeks of goods imports and 28.21 weeks of goods and services imports.
