US Small-Business Optimism Rises to an Almost One-Year High
US small-business optimism rose in July to the highest level in almost a year as firms ramped up hiring plans and inflation pressures eased.
The National Federation of Independent Business index increased 2.4 points to 99.8, the highest level since August 2025. Eight of the 10 components that make up the gauge improved and two declined.

German Funds Break Through €5 Trillion in Assets Amid ETF Boom
Germany’s fund industry now oversees more than €5 trillion ($5.8 trillion) for the first time, driven by appetite for exchange-traded funds.
Total assets under management across the sector rose €348 billion to €5.2 trillion during the first half of the year, the German trade association BVI said in a statement Tuesday.

China’s Car Exports Boom as Domestic Sales Slump, Margins Shrink
China’s car exports surged again, serving as a lifeline for automakers mired in a domestic slump driven by rising fuel costs and weak consumer confidence.
Overseas shipments jumped 88% year-on-year in July to 918,000 units, according to China’s Passenger Car Association. That means that 41% of cars produced in the country were sent abroad, compared with 21% a year ago.
