US Says Iran Talks to Continue Despite Hormuz Skirmishes
Talks between the US and Iran over a permanent peace deal are continuing, according to an American official, despite two days of clashes that threatened to shatter an already fragile ceasefire.
The US is still committed to finding a diplomatic solution with Iran, the official said Thursday, declining to be named discussing sensitive matters. The official described the ongoing discussions as technical talks.

German lawmakers approved a comprehensive overhaul of the country’s statutory health-insurance system that forces drug-price reductions on pharmaceutical companies as part of a wider drive to cut billions of euros in costs.
Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s conservatives and the Social Democrats used their Bundestag majority to push the bill through on Friday in the final session before the summer break.

Japan’s Producer Prices Pick Up to Fastest Pace Since Early 2023
Japan’s corporate goods prices picked up in June to the fastest pace since early 2023, adding to evidence of rising inflationary pressures that support the case for the Bank of Japan to keep raising interest rates.
The measure of input prices for Japanese firms rose 7.1% in June from a year earlier, and May’s increase was revised higher, the Bank of Japan reported Friday.
