Yellen Sees Disinflation Pressures at Work as Hiring Surge Fades
Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said a cooling — but not faltering — labor market is playing a key role in helping to slow US inflation, among a raft of factors imposing disinflationary pressures.
“The intensity of hiring demands on the part of firms has subsided,” Yellen said Tuesday in an interview with Bloomberg News. “The labor market’s cooling without there being any real distress associated with it.”

Indian Tycoon Adani Touts Huge Wind and Solar Project in Gujarat
Gautam Adani has touted plans to build a massive hybrid renewable energy project as he tries to put the controversy over Hindenburg Research’s short-seller report behind him.
The wind and solar facility would be built in the deserts of Gujarat, the home state of Adani and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Indian tycoon said in a speech at Adani Enterprises Ltd.’s annual meeting on Tuesday. It would have a capacity of 20 gigawatts, roughly equal to the total installed electricity capacity of Portugal.
