US Trade Chief Greer in India to Resolve Trade Pact Hurdles
US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer kicked off talks with Indian officials this week as both sides stepped up efforts to resolve the remaining differences holding up an interim trade agreement.
The US trade chief will meet India’s Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and other senior officials in New Delhi on Tuesday and Wednesday, according to a US statement.

Euro-Zone Business Activity Shows Resilience to Iran War Fallout
Business activity in the euro area shrank less than anticipated in June, feeding optimism that the region’s economy can weather faster inflation and the jolt to confidence dealt by the Iran war.
Despite recording a third month below the 50 threshold separating growth from contraction, the Composite Purchasing Managers’ Index compiled by S&P Global rose to 49.5 from 48.5 in May. Analysts in a Bloomberg survey estimated a gain to 49.2.

China Pursues Austerity With First Fiscal Gap Cutback Since 2023
China narrowed its cumulative fiscal deficit for the first time in more than two years, pressing ahead with austerity despite muted domestic demand and slowing economic growth.
The combined shortfall under China’s two biggest government budgets shrank 4.1% in the first five months from the same period a year earlier to 3.16 trillion yuan ($466 billion), according to Bloomberg calculations based on data released by the Ministry of Finance late on Monday.
