US Firms Add Just 29,000 Jobs, Unemployment Rate Ticks Up
The US added fewer jobs than expected in September and wage growth slowed, signaling some caution among employers amid rising costs.
Nonfarm payrolls increased 29,000 last month after a downward revision to the prior two months, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics data out Friday.

Euro-Zone Inflation Tops Estimates to Hit Three-Year High
Euro-area inflation quickened more than expected to the highest in three years, bolstering expectations that the European Central Bank will lift interest rates further.
Consumer prices rose 3.8% from a year ago in September, up from 3.2% the previous month, Eurostat said Friday.

Tokyo Inflation Acceleration Will Keep BOJ Alert for Overshoot
Tokyo’s key inflation gauge rose sharply as the effects of some temporary government measures faded, backing the Bank of Japan’s stance on continuing to raise the benchmark rate after authorities accelerated the pace of policy normalization.
The consumer price index excluding fresh food rose 2.7% in September from a year earlier in the capital, according to data released Friday by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications.
