PULS reports 12% decline in year end net profit

Audited financials for the year ended June 30, 2023:

Pulse Investments Limited (PULS) for the year ended June 30, 2023, reported a 2% increase in Revenue totaling $948.93 million compared to $930.60 million in the corresponding period last year. Revenue for the fourth quarter had a 41% decrease to close at $155.79 million compared to $262.22 million for the comparable quarter of 2022.

Administrative and other expenses amounted to $321.38 million (2022: $270.93 million), this represents an increase of 19% year over year.

Operating Profit for the year amounted to $627.55 million, a 5% decrease relative to $659.68 million reported in 2022. Operating Profit for the fourth quarter amounted to $40.21 million (2022: $178.97 million).

Other Income declined by 23% from $1.27 billion in 2022 to $976.52 million in the period under review.

Finance Cost totalled $13.14 million, a 71% decrease from the prior year. (2022: $44.83 million).

Pre-tax Profit for the year amounted to $1.59 billion, a 16% decrease relative to $1.88 billion reported in 2022. Pre-tax Profit for the fourth quarter amounted to $1.59 billion (2022: $1.88 billion).

Taxation for the year totalled $17.84 million (2022: $97.69 million).

Net Profit for the year ended amounted to $1.57 billion, a 12% decrease from the $1.79 billion reported in 2022. For the fourth quarter, Net Loss was $158.06 million (2022: Net Profit: $513.90 million).

Consequently, Earnings Per Share for the year amounted to $0.24 (2022: EPS: $0.27), while Loss Per Share for the quarter totaled $0.02 (2022: EPS of $0.08). The number of shares used in these calculations was 6,522,952,176.

Notably, PULS’s stock price closed the trading period on October 12, 2023, at a price of $2.13 with a corresponding P/E ratio of 8.83x.

Balance Sheet Highlights

The company’s assets totalled $11.38 billion (2022: $9.32 billion). The growth in assets resulted mainly from a $1.34 billion increase in Investment Property closing at $7.77 billion.

Shareholder’s equity was $9.07 billion (2022: $7.44 billion), representing a book value per share of $1.39 (2022: $1.14).
