SML reports 24% increase in six months net profit

Unaudited financials for the six months ended June 30, 2025:

Stanley Motta Limited (SML) for the six months ended June 30, 2025 reported a 19% increase in Revenue totaling $334.14 million compared to $281.97 million in the corresponding period last year. Revenue for the second quarter had a 14% increase to close at $170.74 million compared to $150.12 million for the comparable quarter of 2024.

Year to date, Administrative Expenses increased by 28% to close at $130.85 million (2024: $102.29 million). Consequently, Operating Profit increased by 11% from $183.97 million in 2024 to $204.57 million in the period under review. Finance costs for the six months ended June 30, 2025 amounted to $38.99 million, a 21% decrease relative to $49.45 million reported in 2024.

Profit before taxation for the six months ended June 30, 2025, amounted to $165.58 million, a 23% increase relative to $134.52 million reported in 2024. Profit before taxation for the second quarter amounted to $71.42 million (2024: $71.40 million). The tax charge incurred for the six months ended June 30, 2025 totaled $3.50 million, a 5% increase from the corresponding period last year. (2024: $3.32 million).

Net profit for the six months ended June 30, 2025, amounted to $162.08 million, a 24% increase relative to $131.20 million reported in 2024. Net profit for the second quarter amounted to $71.42 million (2024: $71.40 million).

Currency translation difference on net asset of foreign subsidiary for the six months ended June 30, 2025 had a 100% decrease to reach $28,000 (2024: $9.85 million) . As a result, Total Comprehensive Income for the six months amounted to $162.11 million, a 15% increase from the $141.05 million reported in 2024. For the second quarter, Total Comprehensive Income was $71.42 million (2024: $81.22 million).

Consequently, Earnings Per Share for the six months amounted to $0.21 (2024: EPS: $0.19), while Earnings Per Share for the quarter totaled $0.09 (2024: EPS: $0.11). The twelve-month trailing EPS was $1.51 and the number of shares used in these calculations was 757,828,490.

Notably, SML’s stock price closed the trading period on August 14, 2025, at a price of $6.43 with a corresponding P/E ratio of 4.25x.

Balance Sheet Highlights

The company’s assets totalled $11.90 billion (2024: $10.31 billion). The movement in total assets was primarily due to a 17% increase in ‘Investment Properties’ amounting to $11.47 billion (2024: $10.03 billion).

Shareholders’ equity was $8.78 billion (2024: $7.75 billion), representing a book value per share of $11.59 (2024: $10.22).
