Q4 Government Deficit stood at 0.7% of GDP for both Euro Area and EU27

The seasonally adjusted general government deficit to GDP ratio in the fourth quarter of 2019 was 0.7% in both the euro area (EA19) and the EU27, both stable compared with the third quarter of 2019, according to Eurostat.

Seasonally adjusted government revenue and expenditure for the euro area and EU27

Total government revenue in the euro area amounted to 46.4% of GDP in the fourth quarter of 2019, a decline in comparison to 46.6% of GDP in the third quarter of 2019. While, total government expenditure in the euro area represented 47.1% of GDP, a downturn compared with 47.3% in the previous quarter.

Meanwhile, in the fourth quarter of 2019, total government revenue in the EU27 represented 46.1% of GDP, a decline compared to 46.2% of GDP in the third quarter of 2019. On the other hand, total government expenditure in the EU27 decreased to 46.7% of GDP relative to 46.9% of GDP in the previous quarter.
