COVID-19 Clinical Management Summary Update

As of October 26, 2021, the outbreak of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) had spread across the globe to six continents, over four million people had died after contracting the respiratory virus. Cases now stand at 245,086,616 globally.

Based on the COVID-19 Clinical Management Summary for Monday, October 25, 2021, the overall number of cases in Jamaica has reached 88,480 with 49 confirmed cases within 24 hours. Additionally, there was 1 death recorded, hence Jamaica’s death toll for COVID-19 positive individuals stands at 2,184.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness indicated that a total of 323 deaths have been under investigation as at October 26, 2021. Coincidental deaths as at the same date amounted to 186.

Approximately 220 countries and territories worldwide have been affected by the COVID-19 disease. The virus is still circulating at very high rates, and many countries have reintroduced lockdown rules to slow the spread recorded over the winter months. Furthermore, fresh travel restrictions have been implemented following the discovery of new variants, particularly those first identified in the UK and South Africa.
