COVID-19 Clinical Management Summary Update

As of September 10, 2021, the outbreak of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) had spread across the globe to six continents, and three million people had died after contracting the respiratory virus. Cases now stand at 224,283,803 globally.

Based on the COVID-19 Clinical Management Summary for Thursday, September 09, 2021, the overall number of cases in Jamaica has reached 74,645 with 638 confirmed within 24 hours. Additionally, there were 8 deaths recorded, hence Jamaica’s death toll for COVID-19 positive individuals stands at 1,693.

 

 

The Ministry of Health and Wellness indicated that a total of 223 deaths have been under investigation as at September 09, 2021. Coincidental deaths as at the same date amounted to 175.

Approximately 220 countries and territories worldwide have been affected by the COVID-19 disease. The virus is still circulating at very high rates, and many countries have reintroduced lockdown rules to slow the spread recorded over the winter months. Furthermore, fresh travel restrictions have been implemented following the discovery of new variants, particularly those first identified in the UK and South Africa.
