Net International Reserves – September 2024

BOJ has reported that Jamaica’s Net International Reserves as at September 30, 2024 stood at US$5,200.53 million, reflecting an increase of US$195.64 million when compared to the US$5,004.89 million reported at the end of August 2024.

Foreign Assets totalled US$5,269.74 million, US$186.60 million more than the US$5,083.14 million reported in August 2024.

‘Currency & Deposits’ held by the BOJ as at September 30, 2024 totalled US$3,582.62 million, reflecting an increase of US$170.13 million compared to the US$3,412.48 million reported in August 2024.

‘Securities’ were valued at US$1,629.92 million; US$17.34 million more than the US$1,612.58 million reported at the end of August 2024. The country’s Special Drawing Rights decreased to US$20.11 million relative to the US$21.25 million recorded a month prior.

‘IMF Reserve Position’ increased to US$37.10 million from the US$36.83 million reported last month. Liabilities to the IMF decreased by US$9.04 million to US$69.21 million against the US$78.24 million reported at the end of August 2024.

Presently, the country’s foreign exchange reserves are US$483.96 million, or 10% more than the US$4,716.57 million held by the BOJ at the end of September 2023. The current NIR supports approximately 38.52 weeks of goods imports and 26.25 weeks of goods and services imports.
