Trump Set to Defend War in Iran in Latest Appearance at the UN
President Donald Trump will defend his decision to start the war in Iran and step up military action in the Western Hemisphere when he speaks at the annual United Nations General Assembly event in New York later Tuesday.
Trump will argue that he’s using American power to confront longstanding challenges, in contrast to other leaders who only talk about doing so, a White House official said in advance of his remarks.

Rusal Said to Sound Out Buyers for Its Jamaica and Guyana Assets
United Co. Rusal International PJSC, Russia’s top producer of aluminum, is seeking a sale of its assets in Jamaica and Guyana as it focuses on other regions.
The company has started looking for potential buyers for its Windalco alumina complex in Jamaica and its bauxite operations in Guyana, according to people familiar with the matter, who asked not to be identified as the details are private.

China’s Gold Imports Top 1,000 Tons on Strong Investment Demand
Chinese gold imports are at record levels this year, helped by a slump in international prices and a firmer yuan.
Purchases through August topped 1,000 tons, surpassing the total posted for the whole of 2025, according to the latest customs data, which goes back to 2017.
