U.S. Manufacturing and Trade Inventories and Sales for August 2020

The U.S Census Bureau reported that the combined value of distributive trade sales and manufacturers’ shipments for August was estimated at $1,452.4 billion, reflecting an increase of 0.6% from July 2020. However, this was 0.4% lower than August 2019.

Additionally, manufacturers’ and trade inventories level at end of August was estimated at $1.919.2 billion, up 0.3% from July 2020, but was 5.5% lower than August 2019. As a result, total business inventories/sales ratio at the end of August 2020 amounted to 1.32 relative to 1.39 at the end of August 2019.
