PULS reports 62% decline in year end net profit

Audited financials for the year end ended June 30, 2024:

Pulse Investments Limited (PULS) for the year end ended June 30, 2024, reported a 14% decrease in operating revenue totaling $815.10 million compared to $948.93 million in the corresponding period last year. Operating loss for the fourth quarter closed at $30.35 million compared to operating revenue of $155.79 million for the comparable quarter of 2023.

Administrative and other expenses amounted to $284.69 million (2023: $268.58 million), this represents an increase of 6% year over year.

Impairment losses on financial assets decreased by 6% to $49.49 million compared to $52.71 million for the year end ended June 30, 2023.

Other impairment losses amounted to $262.09 million (2023: $0).

Other income for the year end ended June 30, 2024, amounted to $388.73 million, a 60% decrease relative to $972.28 million reported in 2023.

Consequently, Operating Profit for the year end ended June 30, 2024, amounted to $607.57 million, a 62% decrease relative to $1.60 billion reported in 2023. Operating loss for the fourth quarter amounted to $34.83 million (2023: Operating profit $1.01 billion).

Finance Cost totaled $13.11 million a 46% increase from the corresponding period last year. (2023: $8.98 million).

Pre-tax Profit for the year end ended June 30, 2024, amounted to $594.46 million, a 63% decrease relative to $1.59 billion reported in 2023. Pre-tax loss for the fourth quarter amounted to $47.52 million (2023: Pre-tax profit $1.06 billion).

Taxation for the year end ended June 30, 2024, had a 68% decrease to reach $51.51 million (2023: $159.40 million). As such, Net Profit for the year end amounted to $542.95 million, a 62% decrease from the $1.43 billion reported in 2023. For the fourth quarter, Net Loss was $99.03 million (2023: Net profit $905.23 million).

Consequently, Earnings Per Share for the year end amounted to $0.08 (2023: EPS: $0.22), while Loss Per Share for the quarter totaled $0.02 (2023: EPS: $0.14). The twelve-month trailing EPS was $0.08, and the number of shares used in these calculations was 6,522,952,176.

Notably, PULS’s stock price closed the trading period on November 28, 2024, at a price of $1.14 with a corresponding P/E ratio of 13.70x.

Balance Sheet Highlights

The company’s assets totalled $11.82 billion (2023: $11.38 billion). The growth in total assets was driven primarily by a $437.17 million or 6% increase in ‘Investment property’ to close at $8.21 billion (2023: $7.77 billion).

Shareholder’s equity was $9.26 billion (2023: $8.75 billion), representing a book value per share of $1.42 (2023: $1.34).
